Emerson’s Bakery is Open for Business

Inspiring local baker’s dream comes true

Over the last few years, CareLink has provided microfinance capital for several small bakery businesses. Why? Bread and other simple baked goods provide inexpensive nutrition that people need daily. Whenever we launched a new bakery, we often turned to “Emerson” to help us train the new bakery proprietor. A giving Christian man with a big heart, Emerson was always happy to volunteer his time to help us train our bakery owners on the latest baking techniques and popular recipes. (Even mastering “Chicago-Style Pizza!) As an employee of a thriving commercial bakery in downtown Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, Emerson always dreamed of owning his own shop. But the timing was never just right, and Emerson could not afford the start-up costs.

Thanks to your faithful support, CareLink has now made Emerson’s dream come true. We are happy to announce the opening of Emerson’s Bakery! Over the years, Emerson has developed quite a talent for baking beautiful cakes and pastries, and has established a number of regular customers. The CareLink micro-loan will provide Emerson with working capital to purchase a commercial oven, baking pans, and supplies.

Did you know? CareLink never charges interest on our loans, and once paid back, the funds are loaned-out again to other new businesses. Microfinance is sustainable!

Business is a powerful force for good, providing families and communities with an escape from poverty - and hope for the future of Honduras.

Way to go, Emerson!
